I hate to admit this, but I had no idea concrete was so old. I look around where I live and see a brutal concrete world. But the masterwork of the Pantheon gives me great hope; it reinforces the idea that our world has gotten uglier not necessarily because of advancement in technology, but largely because of the degradation of our morals, minds, and values. The way we see and interact with the world has degraded. Concrete doesn't have to be ugly -- it can be part of the great symphony of our world. But we have to want to make a symphony for that to be the case.
